Water Adequacy Reports
Written in 2020 and provided by Nutrient Farms for their current PUD, this report relies on incorrect data and incomplete information from an antiquated PUD from 1974, fifty years ago. We highlight the importance of new quantification data, and examination of updated and current environmental, hydrological and geological studies.

Understanding Canyon Creek's Water Rights

The Canyon Creek watershed is a crucial component of Garfield County’s ecosystem, feeding into the Colorado River and supporting diverse wildlife. Water rights and conservation efforts are vital to maintaining the health of this waterway, especially in the face of climate change and development pressures. Our group, Friends of Canyon Creek, is dedicated to safeguarding these resources through advocacy and education. By understanding historical water rights and current challenges, we aim to promote sustainable practices that ensure the longevity of this natural treasure.
Canyon Creek has long been a lifeline for local communities and wildlife. However, increasing drought conditions and proposed developments threaten its sustainability. Our mission is to raise awareness and mobilize community action to protect this watershed. By preserving water rights and implementing conservation strategies, we can secure a future where Canyon Creek continues to thrive and support the region’s ecological balance.
